Jack Kaminer grew up in a lower-income project in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn (New York City) and attended Long Island University on a basketball scholarship. Jack has a long history in the field of education with fifteen years of teaching experience in New York City at three levels: elementary school (P.S.16), high school (Wingate, Franklin K. Lane and Truman), college (City College of New York). He also taught for twenty-one years at Scarsdale High School in Westchester County, New York. Jack has held positions as a Health and Physical Educator, Assistant Principal and College Instructor.
Jack was a Head Basketball Coach for thirty-two years on both the high school and college levels. His teams won numerous championships and on fourteen occasions he was named "Coach of the Year".
In 1998 Jack was inducted into the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame (New York).
In 2002 he was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame.
In 2019 he was inducted into the Brooklyn, U.S.A. Basketbal Hall of Fame.
Jack has spoken to athletic teams at many universities on the skill of concentration and how it impacts individual performance. Some of the schools he has conducted workshops at include: Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Penn State, U.C.L.A., University of Southern California, Villanova, Rutgers, Tulane, St. John's and Miami.
